Leaders help people turn on their internal lights and allow their skills and abilities to shine brightly.
7 C’S OF LEADERSHIP
Capability always aspires us to stretch the limits of our potential and inspire those around us to do the same. We practice accountability with ourself as well as those around us. We feel comfortable oscillating between collaborating and competing, being confident and humble, and knowing when to keep control and when to empower others. We know when to go fast and when to go slow. We equally value people, principles and profits, not sacrificing one for the other. We are skilled at the fundamentals of conducting business—planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. Capability enables us to take the leadership walk by bringing a win-win orientation, trust, respect, motivation, inspiration and a feeling of collaboration and partnership.
Character is the most important aspect that helps you walk the talk for being good and doing well. We choose to be a role model for integrity, ethical behaviour, authenticity, and transparency. We have a moral center and radiate positive energy and determination. We’re self-disciplined and treat those with or without power the same. We invite the elephant in the room to dance. We’re unafraid to show care. We are tolerant of and embrace differences. We embrace possibility with childlike wonder, practice inclusion without judgment, and turn dreams into reality.
We’re self-aware and pro-actively use our self-knowledge to relate to, and interact with, others. We know our strengths and put them to good use for both ourself and in service to others. We know our weakness, and work to minimize any negative impact they may have. We seek out feedback and reflect on what we hear. We practice simplicity yet know when to take the deep dive. We know when to be mindful and when to take action. We manage to allow stability while stimulating change. We celebrate and have fun. Cognition is to set boundaries and appreciate what’s mandatory and what’s discretionary.
Commitment is to hold ourself responsible and assist others in doing the same. We seek out and live up to our potential. We pursue mutual understanding and respect even in the presence of opposing opinions. We touch hearts and balance that with solid management practices to assure the work is done. We dedicate ourself to finding connection, communicating, reaching for our potential, celebrating, and being courageous, sincere, caring and authentic.
We smile, laugh, and are fearless in showing love and joy. We know when to speak with candor and when to use diplomacy. We care for ourself, our team, organization, community, family and whatever else we hold near and dear, and are secure enough to show that we care. Compassion is empathy without sacrificing accountability and ownership. We know when to enforce the rules and when to bend them.
Confidence is to take a stand for what’s good and right, even if doing so is unpopular. We show grace under pressure. We acknowledge our fears without letting them rule our life. Confident individuals are joyfully spirited and they show strength of mind and will. We believe in ourself. We know how to bring value and help others believe the same about themselves. We make a positive difference.
We know the values and beliefs that are important to us, and we practice them in our daily living in doses large and small. We’re there for others. We make the time to communicate and connect with others. We actively listen to them with our head and heart because understanding their point of view is important. We share grins and gratitude. Connection is to listen actively, engage in two-way dialogues, and assure messages are accurately conveyed.
